Background information
Armstrong Creative
Dave and Caroline Armstrong formed Armstrong Creative Limited in 2004 with the aim of producing work that has a long touring life. Since then they have toured King and Country to 13 venues around the country, Niu Sila around New Zealand and to Cambridge, UK, and most recently touring Le Sudto 5 cities in 2009, and another 5 in 2010. 

Their most recent production, Rita and Douglas premiered and toured to 7 cities in 2011, and will play at the Otago Festival in October. where we once belonged was invited to the World Theatre Festival in Brisbane in February this year, and following the Going West Festival will be part of the Otago Arts Festival in October.

 

Caroline Armstrong  - Producer Caroline has been a theatre publicist and producer for 20 years, including 2 stints as Marketing Manager at Downstage Theatre. She has produced a variety of works including a car ballet featuring 5 Ford Fiestas in Civic Square, The Anthony Wilding Story performed on tennis courts, and far more conventional theatre like the The Naked Samoans for which she was producer for 6 years.  A professionally trained musician, Caroline has also been an arts reviewer for Newstalk ZB Wellington, a music teacher at Raroa Music Centre, and is currently producer of Le Sud, Rita and Douglas and Niu Sila. Caroline has a vast practical knowledge of touring and is proud to be producer of works that have a long and successful touring life.
Dave Armstrong – Writer
Dave has won the Chapman Tripp Best New New Zealand play three times (Niu Sila [with Oscar Kightley] 2004, The Tutor 2005, where we once belonged [with Sia Figiel] 2008). Dave's play about World War I ,  King and Country   premiered at the 2005 Wanaka International Festival of Colour and won Best Radio Production at the 2008 Radio Awards. Dave was 2007 Writer in Residence at Victoria University, and was included in The Six Pack the same year. He won the Fiction Category of the 2008 Royal Society Manhire Prize for Creative Science Writing with his story Waimate. Dave wrote the libretto for Capital E's children's opera Kia ora Khalid and his television credits include Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby (co-creator, co-writer).
