AARERO STONE at Soundings - Te Papa
reviewed by Deirdre Tarrant (Capital Times) 8 Mar 2006
Opportunity wasted
Both Brown and Koroneho evoked loss and lamentation and connected this to war but there seemed no cohesive point between the two solos or any rationale for even being on stage together. [more]

AB-SURD at Private home; Maarama Crescent, Aro Valley
reviewed by Lyne Pringle 22 Feb 2012
Sensitive partners in an intimate environment
It is an elegant and precise performance. Ludbrook has an engaging presence and her fellow performer Carmelo Montarro is a sympathetic collaborator playing a love interest , a shadow self and dream inhabitant. [more]

ABOUT FACE - REBOUND DANCE COMPANY at Downstage Theatre
reviewed by Virginia Kennard 11 Jun 2012
Fit, Fabulous and almost Fifty
About Face is what is says on the poster – a celebration of dance that highlights the performance qualities of the dancers. It is not about the steps but how one feels whilst watching, and certainly there is a strong focus on performative energies. [more]

ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY WALKING! TOURS at from Bats to Mt Vic / Oriental Bay...
reviewed by John Smythe (John Smythe: theatre reviews) 15 Feb 2006
Stepping into nature and supernature
The natural and the supernatural are alive and well, or dead and unburied, and now available for you edification and entertainment within a reasonable radius of Bats theatre. [more]

ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST at Globe Theatre
reviewed by Barbara Frame (Otago Dailt Times) 25 Aug 2006
Classic and modern, Italian and British, serious and crazy
Relevant in 2006? Of course: for "anarchist" substitute "terrorist," and think about bombs, official denials of the truth, interference with free speech - you'll get the picture. Better still, hurry along to the Globe before 2 September and reflect on the sorry state of the world while laughing yourself silly. There were about 20 people there last night, doing just that. ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST at Meteor Theatre
reviewed by Brenda Rae Kidd 20 Oct 2012
Rollicking farce played at a rampaging pace
Pinelli allegedly jumped. Or was he pushed? Accidental Death of an Anarchist is Fo’s interpretation of this event and life in Italy, post fascism. His bemusement at the inherent corruption and social injustices that prevailed provides the mayhem behind the humour. [more]

ADAGIO at Downstage Theatre
reviewed by John Smythe 11 Oct 2008
Existential physical theatre: poignancy, wit, spectacle, danger
The title warns us not to expect fast-paced and wacky acts of derring-do just for the sake of showing off. It starts with stillness, individuals in isolation. What little action there is, to Jonathan Crayford’s time-ticking musical background, is minimal … [more]

ADAGIO at Downstage Theatre
reviewed by Laurie Atkinson (The Dominion Post) 13 Oct 2008
What a circus, what a show
Not only is Adagio seriously sophisticated circus, it is also seriously enjoyable, thoroughly entertaining and a damn good night at the theatre. The traditional skills of circus performers and a contemporary theatrical sensibility have been combined and shaped by Deborah Pope into a show perfectly suited to the intimacy of Downstage. [more]

ADAM PAGE at Meow, Edward St CBD
reviewed by Lucy O'Connor 20 Feb 2013
Creative musical puppeteer
Going in to Adam Page I had no idea what to expect. One man, one looper, a menagerie of instruments and a beard to rival Rasputin. [more]

ADAM PAGE SOLO at Downstage Theatre
reviewed by John Smythe 27 Feb 2009
Coming the raw kumara
Beginning and ending on a marvellous old tarnished sax – sublime! – he also plays with keys, an electric bass, a child’s pink electric guitar, a flute, a clarinet, an African Thumb Piano (Mbira), a kazoo, a wide range of percussion instruments, a beer bottle at different levels of fullness, plus his voice including, if I’m not mistaken, a touch of Tuvan throat singing.
