The Stationary Dead So, the Zombie Apocalypse is finally upon us, but it has arrived with more of a low moan than a blood-lusting scream. Royale Productions’ high-concept Apocalypse Z – written by Simon London and David Van Horn and directed by Andrew Foster - has barricaded itself securely within Aotea Centre. [more] |

Immersive, authentic and could go further What a remarkable project this production is, and what a truly fascinating extension of the theatre experience beyond our traditional notions. As a STAB commission, Apollo 13 is a very successful example of technically innovative and boundary-crossing theatre, and without doubt it’s a fun ride. [more] |

Participate: you know you want to Whether we have assigned tasks, volunteer for special tasks, or are (like the press corps) keen observers, we live and feel the unfolding drama. From the time bird-strike causes a gas to vent that’s observed from inside the module to which we have video access, problems evolve that threaten first the success of the mission and then the lives of the crew. If only algebra had been this exciting in the third form! This is the third season of Apollo 13 in Wellington – the first in Bats and the second earlier this year, also at Downstage. You miss a season and unlike movies, there is no subsequent DVD release. [more] |
