NZ Fringe Festival 06 DESPATCH at BATS reviewed by John Smythe (NBR/John Smythe: theatre reviews) 10 Feb 2006 |
Casualties in undercooked war play Angie Farrow’s vivid dreams about genocides, starving multitudes and suicide bombings left her feeling powerless and guilty about tragedies that were happening in other parts of the world. NZ Fringe Festival 06 ZIRKUS GOES BIZURKUS at BATS reviewed by John Smythe (John Smythe: theatre reviews) 9 Feb 2006 |

Chaos reigns at Bats Just because it’s a Fringe show that doesn’t mean it can be shoddy. There’s huge competition out there for the time and money of prospective punters. [more] |

NZ Fringe Festival 06 THE DRUNK MONOLOGUES at BATS reviewed by John Smythe (John Smythe: theatre reviews) 8 Feb 2006 |
The freedom/oppression paradox In a deceptively ramshackle blend of talk, drink and song, Spodarek captures and exposes the paradox of an era and culture that has found new forms of self-imposed oppression in its quest for freedom. [more] |

NZ Fringe Festival 06 SUPERBEAST at BATS reviewed by Laurie Atkinson (The Dominion Post) 1 Mar 2006 |
Pessimistic panto for adults SuperBeast is a panto for adults. It has a bleak, pessimistic ending and the Princess Alicia, its heroine (if that’s the right word for her), has seen far too many contemporary films and plays, for she uses four-letter words all the time. These are just some of the many coffee related facts and figures contained in Biscuit & Coffee. NZ Fringe Festival 06 YOU KNOW WHAT? I REALLY DON’T LIKE YOU! at Paramount reviewed by Lynn Freeman (Captial Times) 15 Feb 2006 |
Nowhere to go, no way to grow ... a shambles of a play, starting out with cartoonish OTT antics and trying (and failing) to turn itself into something deep and meaningful by the end. [more] See also reviews by: John Smythe (John Smythe: theatre reviews); Ewen Coleman (The Dominion Post); |
