Dance Your Socks Off
STEEL BALLERINA at BATS
reviewed by John Smythe 16 Sep 2009
Impressionistic view of a magical life
Those with a rudimentary knowledge of Margot Fonteyn may well feel inspired by Steel Ballerina to discover more. Those with a greater awareness … may happily add what they know to the lightly touched-on story elements or feel dismayed that so much has been left out or under-explained. [more]

Dance Your Socks Off
THE EIFFEL TOWER WEDDING PARTY at BATS
reviewed by Lynn Freeman (Capital Times) 10 Sep 2008
Imagination runs riot
The Three Spoons Theatre Company and Jean Cocteau are a perfect match, both esoteric, charmingly offbeat and entirely original. [more]

BEAUTIFUL CITY at BATS
reviewed by Deirdre Tarrant (Capital Times) 13 Sep 2006
Exploratory experience
Beautiful City sought to explore the energy of urban living and the concepts of solitude and space that arise with the reality of crowding and living at close proximity. Film images zoomed in towards a sprawl of buildings and fragmented images often provided the reference point for the three dancers. [more]

THE SEEDS OF LOVE at BATS
reviewed by Deirdre Tarrant (Capital Times) 13 Sep 2006
Depths and heights
Seeds of Love was a series of dances starting with a languid duet between Juliet Shelly and Annabel Reader that set the space for a fluid and introspective programme. Personal solos made by the two dancers had complex programme information to give the context of their choreography. [more]

SNAPSHOTS – A BLAST FROM THE PAST at BATS
reviewed by Deirdre Tarrant 20 Sep 2006
Foot-tapping nostaligia + improv
This is a rework of material seen before by the vivacious Java Dance Company but this time the production has certainly stepped up with the addition of The Improvisers. [more]

WATCH THIS SPACE at BATS
reviewed by Deirdre Tarrant 20 Sep 2006
More please!
So far this is the stand out success and surprise of the festival. Humour, clarity, imaginative choreographically and with tight direction by Hannah Clarke, the three performers simply take the stage and the audience on an episodic adventure of their own ideas and responses. [more]

NOT VACANT at BATS
reviewed by Deirdre Tarrant (Capital Times) 16 Sep 2009
Plot vacant
A collaboration between dancers and actors, Not Vacant doesn’t know which genre it is in and fails to spark in either. [more]

Dance Your Socks Off
A LIFE LIVED IN SKIN at Gryphon
reviewed by Jan Bolwell 28 Sep 2008
Stylish but soporific
This is an intelligently conceived and beautifully presented one-hour solo dance show by Annabel Reader. The programme notes describe the work as ‘part biography, part fairy tale’ telling the story of universal woman passing through a life full of memories. [more]

AN ALTERNATIVE VERSION OF YOUR OWN LIFE at BATS
reviewed by Lyne Pringle 17 Sep 2007
Promise, inventiveness, craft and commitment not always enough
The programme notes for this evening of dance are very fulsome and promise much. Virginia Kennard present two works. Order within Disorder is based on mathematical theory. The choreographer states very clearly her intentions about the activities of the dancers in the space and their progressions towards and investigation of ‘three chaotic sets’ ... [more]

THE EIFFEL TOWER WEDDING PARTY at BATS

Three Spoon Theatre delivers big time!!!
With a taut gem the Three Spoon Theatre Company launch the 2008 season of Dance Your Socks Off. It is immediately apparent that this company of talent are energised, stylish and highly focussed on the task of bringing this piece of surrealist dance theatre to the stage with all the joi de vivre they can muster.
