|
Entirely original and big hearted Josie Long is like that friend or acquaintance (you know the one I mean) who’s bubbly, irrepressibly positive, passionate and quirky, who everyone likes, but who is best administered in small doses. [more] |

Panto-style freshness and vitality It is a pleasant experience to be part of an excited audience, tingling with anticipation. It is even more heart warming to witness the enthusiasm lasting well into the car park afterwards. Such is the reception encountered at The Court’s current holiday treat, where tiny and not so tiny enjoyed a rollicking romance written and played with good wholesome fun in mind. [more] |

MILK: NZ DAIRY FARMING 1957 – 2017 at Comedy Underground, 305 Queen St reviewed by Kate Ward-Smythe 24 Apr 2008 |
|
Talented cast’s fresh and wacky material needs an editor / director If you are happy to forget logic and enter the land of Milk with an open heart and mind, ignore the weird stuff if it makes you feel a bit yucky, and enjoy the moments that are genuinely charming and funny, you’ll have a great night. Engaging old-school family theatre These holidays Tim Bray’s stalwart family theatre company tackles a gratuitous classic from that post modern hero of children’s literature, Roald Dahl. Mr and Mrs Twit are a detestable couple of grumpy sadistic morons best described as ‘disgusting’. They hate everything, particularly anything happy or nice, and especially each other. [more] |

![]() MEDIUM RARE at The Classic Basement (formerly Silo) reviewed by Sian Robertson 23 Apr 2008 |
|
Fledgling comics show promise Medium Rare are the fresh meat of NZ’s comedy talent pool, high school aged lads and lasses who, with a bit of experience under their belts, are now ‘less bloody than you think’. Not all of their material centres around being a teenager – in fact they’ve all done well to avoid most of the predictable clichés, and they’ve all got something to say. [more] |

Plays us like a drum kit Known to most of us as Dave from Flight of the Conchords, some of you are going to be disappointed to learn that Arj Barker’s Auckland shows are completely sold out – for good reason. [more] |

Taste of a Festival worth attending Three hours is a long time to sit and watch people be funny. I left the venue feeling sweaty and exhausted from continually smiling and clapping through the acts. But as a ‘sampler’ of potential shows to visit in this Comedy Fest, I have to say it was a tasty selection with nary a dud in the box. [more] |
