Prospect Park Productions has made the decision to close the company. While this will be a surprise to some, most of our community is well aware of how increasingly challenging and unsustainable the professional performing arts landscape has become. On a more positive note, we welcome the opportunity to focus on our arts practices and being relieved of the considerable administrative weight that running a professional theatre company of two entails.
We wish to express our immense gratitude to everyone – from Ōtepoti and around the motu – who has worked with us through Prospect Park or Ōtepoti Theatre Lab, supported us of attended one of our events over the past 9 years – whether that be by coming to a show or development reading, downloading and listening to podcasts, purchasing art and merchandise, or enrolling yourselves or your tamariki for workshops. In this regard, you will all be part of the company story.
We officially closed on Thursday 27th June 2024, but you’ll be able to reach us via our Prospect Park Productions emails until the end of July 2024. In the meantime, we encourage you to update your email addresses to emilytessduncan@gmail.com and hjkilkelly@gmail.com. Our independent practices will continue, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch should we be able to assist with your projects.
Ōtepoti Writers Lab will continue for (at least) the remainder of 2024; please contact Eliana Gray gray.ec@gmail.com for any inquiries related to the most fabulous ŌWL.Our website will remain archival for now, but all our social media pages (Prospect Park Productions, Ōtepoti Writers Lab and Ōtepoti Theatre Lab) will be deactivated in the coming week. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
A HUGE AND HEARTFELT THANK YOU to each and every one of you. We are grateful for, and proud of, what we have collectively achieved.
Mānawatia a Matariki.
H-J Kilkelly & Emily Duncan
