Stuart has worked as an actor in theatre, radio, television and film, throughout New Zealand and the UK, for four and a half decades. He is also a director and teacher.

He has been Associate Director at the Court Theatre, Artistic Director at Centrepoint Theatre and set up his own company, Playfair Theatre, in Whangarei, presenting only New Zealand plays. He has taught acting at Toi Whakaari/NZ Drama School and Te Wānanga o Te Tai Tokerau.

Stuart’s abiding interest is in the development and presentation of New Zealand theatre.
