Since launching our Company, we have achieved national and international success with events such as World of Dance in Los Angeles and Grounded Battle of the Arts Melbourne.
Tap Fusion is a a high energy, percussive Tap Dance show that fuses with Street Dance and Live Original Music. Directors Brandon & Cameron Carter-Chan have created a show designed to push the creative boundaries of Tap Dance through a concept known as ‘Sound Communication’, by fusing with famous street styles such as Popping, Breaking and Hip Hop.
We will take the audience on a journey through the concept known as ‘Sound Communication.’ This simply means to communicate with our feet. A well-known concept that defines what it means to be a Tap Dancer. Famous Tap Dancer John Bubbles famously quotes, “Listen to my feet and I will tell you the story of my life.” We intend to express this concept in a way that has never been done before. By fusing with famous styles of dance such as Hip Hop, Popping, Breaking and Lindy Hop, we will push the creative boundaries of ‘Sound Communication’ as a way to communicate and collaborate with different artists

Rhythms speaking volumes with exhilarating fusions and slick ensemble
Review by Deirdre Tarrant 15th Feb 2026
The Fringe Festival bursts into life in Wellington with this exuberant and high-octane performance! A full house of enthusiastic supporters and a queue out into Courtenay Place announces that the Fringe – with over 180 shows coming up – is here and happening! Twelve items take us on a journey in which tap dance with its rhythm and percussion is the essence. 12 tap dancers, 6 Street dancers, and 4 musicians each take their part as tap dance history adds in Lindy Hop, Break, Hip Hop, and Bopping styles.
Loud and relentless, the sound could use a little more light and shade, but these dancers are strong and accomplished and clearly love their dancing. It is fun to be a part of and to really see dance actively in conversation with sound. The rhythms speak volumes.
Brandon and Cameron Carter-Chan are the directors and key choreographers, and their delight in their dancers is palpable. There are many stages in the items and a continuous play in the relationships between each dancer. The opening and closing solos by Brendan Carter-Chan are expressive and personal. The Street Dancer duo and the Bop Soloist are charismatic highlights.
The competitive edge associated with tap is ever present – “anything you can do I can do too” or “better“ and the repartee certainly ricochets from foot to foot to feet as ensemble work takes over and exhilarates. Production values are high, and some quirky moments lighten the intensity. The drummer exiting to answer his phone and the HMV gramophone are moments of wry smile and music nostalgia for me. Choreographically, the vocabulary is steady, and the technique is strong. The phrasing is a little predictable and could use a wider variety of structures, but when this does happen, it is slick, sophisticated and effective.

Tap Fusion is entertaining and well done to all. Don’t be afraid to adventure even more to really spark the highs and lows in the storyline. Look for the nuances to guard against sounding angry and loud all the way and to communicate out to us in the audience so we feel included… we may be overwhelmed by the expertise and steps, but it is lovely to relate our much more mundane rhythms to the excitement of the dancing and feelings present in the show. There is real magic onstage.
Life is a roller coaster, and dance as an art form can really bring that alive and help us travel along the road! Tap Fusion is a great concept and all credit to Brendan and Cameron Carter-Chan for their talent, creativity and energy.
WOW is the word as we tap our way out of the theatre into our lives. Thank you.
