My name is Q Walker, and I’m proud to be serving as GM of The Circus Hub, Aotearoa’s largest circus school.

I’ve been in the performing arts my whole life. Growing up in the States, I spent my summers training with Circus Smirkus and performing in Circus Smirkus Roadshow (tentless tour). I specialise in wirewalking, but I’ve trained in all of the major areas of circus: equilibristics, aerials, acrobatics, juggling, and performance. Circus is my lifelong passion, and I lead the Hub with a kaupapa that circus is for everyone.

I’ve spent over twenty years training in classical ballet at SNHDT, Phillips Academy Andover, and the Boston Ballet adults programme. I’m a stage actor, and can occasionally be seen in shows around Wellington with Potentially Playing Productions and other companies. And I’m also a concert musician, playing classical viola with Wellington City Orchestra and playing taiko drums with Narukami Taiko.

I earned my BA in Illustration at Montserrat College of Art (Beverly MA) and my MSci in Human Factors & Information Design at Bentley University (Waltham MA) – my focus is on the science of human perception and UX. I spent over a decade as a UX Researcher and Strategist, helping businesses in the USA and NZ to navigate the human impact of product design. I draw on this background to inform my approach to dramaturgy and stagecraft.

I’m also a dedicated parent and a passionate gardener. Helping people, plants, and organisations to grow is the greatest joy of my life.
