Mike Williams has been involved in theatre most of his life. He graduated from NZ Drama School in 1977 and apart from a professional contract with Court Theatre the following year, has spent most of his time back in community theatre as an actor and director. “Life as a professional just didn’t pay the bills terribly well back then, and things haven’t changed much since. Having said that, I still get the odd paid gig, which is always a treat.”

Mike has done a pretty even mix of plays and musicals over the decades and still loves being on stage. Can’t beat live performance. He is based in the Waikato, which is where he grew up, however he did spend quite a lengthy period living in Nelson. He moved back to the Waikato region in 2015 and is currently (2025) President of Hamilton Musical Theatre and also the Zone 2 Rep for MTNZ.
