Greta: A Journey is a play with original songs and music interspersed. It tells the biography of Ellen Kelly, an Irish immigrant who as a child arrived in Victoria, Australia, in 1841. Ellen reminisces on a life, long lived and of the trials, tribulations and triumphs she experienced, not only as a woman and a mother, but also as a member of the struggling Irish underclass.  The script allows us a snap shot of the times from a woman’s perspective. It is derived from historical accounts and in part uses Ellen’s own words. The play brings to the fore the indomitable spirit of this often, misrepresented woman and fiercely protective mother, who, for the most part, history has designated a back seat. Ellen Kelly will be better known to many as the mother of the infamous 19th century Australian bushranger, Ned Kelly. The play is set in Greta, Northern Victoria, where the often harsh and unforgiving landscape serves as a back drop for a tale that all too often parallels its surroundings. However, the play is a celebration of this remarkable woman and her pioneering journey.
