Naomi van den Broek has been performing professionally in New Zealand – under the name Naomi Ferguson – for twenty years. She works in the following areas: singer, songwriter, pianist and actor. She loves making her own work, and supporting others in their creative practice. She has also taught in various areas of the performing arts for many years, currently lecturing in Songwriting at the University of Canterbury.
 
She is passionate about the arts in general, and the performing arts specifically. She is the Chair of Movement Art Practice, a Christchurch based dance organisation that focus on process, development and audience and community engagment. She has also sat on the advisory board for performing arts tertiary providers and regularly adjudicates student performances at secondary and tertiary level.
 
She has a Masters in Fine Arts majoring in Creative Writing and a First Class Honours Degree in Music from the University of Canterbury. She also has an Advanced Diploma in Jazz from CPIT.

In her spare time she likes to read, sew, cook, drink wine, spend time with her animals, ride her bike and listen to music.
