 Matthew has been on or around the stage since he was very young. He has played many and varied roles in a wide range of productions from schools’ tours to plays to musicals and valleys.

Roles include Thenardier (Les Miserables), the Player (Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead), Ariel (The Tempest), Oberon (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Gavin Winstanley (Ladies Night and Ladies Night 2) and The Baker (Into the Woods).
 
Productions he has directed include: Noises Off, The Cat’s Meow, Cabaret and Chicago (with Life partner Marlise Hughes).
 
Matthew and Marlise have also written, created and directed several ‘jukebox’ musicals, notably FANG a rock horror comedy, and several youth focussed shows including How Charming, Arabian Knights and Off the Wall.
 

They live in Tauranga with their cat owners.
