Created for the annual Young & Hungry Schools Tour: Noho is a 50-minute theatrical piece featuring extracts from a variety of Aotearoa plays, playwrights, performance pieces, and authors. This compilation of 13 performance works also features mōteatea, haka and waiata, creating a complete performance work to complement the NZ Drama Curriculum for years 10-13 students. Noho seeks to tautoko the teaching of our NZ histories, presenting texts to illuminate and investigate colonising narratives.

Including excerpts from Ka Tito Au by Apirana Taylor, All Our Sons by Witi Ihimaera, Other People’s Wars by Dean Parker, Purapurawhetu by Briar Grace-Smith and many more – Noho provides a robust platform for discussion, kōrero and growth. Not only for our rangatahi but for us all.

Bookings for school groups are also available, please contact info@youngandhungry.org.nz to find out more!

Featuring our amazing cast – Dylan Fa’atui, Huia Max, Te Okanga Huata-Wagner and Waitahi Aniwaniwa McGee, this talented rōpū is led by Kaitohutohu Erina Daniels and Awhina Kaitohutohu Juanita Hepi raua ko Amanda Noblett and we know they will bring a lot of heart, passion and aroha to the script.

Noho performances include the option to wānanga with the cast post-show, to dive into what Noho means to us all.

“I’m most excited about the historical aspect of the show and the conversations and discussions that it will generate with our audiences. My biggest hope with this work is that it works alongside the changes in our education curriculum and helps bring a lens on Aotearoa’s history that is very different to the white-centric perspectives of history i grew up on.” Dylan Fa’atui, Noho Kaiwhakaari
