Ellen Murray comes to Ōtepoti Dunedin from the United States, where she studied theatre and dance at the University of Southern California. She is a PhD candidate at the University of Otago, studying magical realism and representations of trauma in theatre and performance. She has worked as an actor, producer, director, and choreographer. Outside of theatre, she is a writer and photographer. Her travel writing and creative nonfiction celebrate place-based narratives and traverse themes of trauma and grief. Her work has been featured in Hidden Compass magazine and, most recently, at Tūhura Otago Museum.
