Salote Cama was born in Lautoka, Fiji and grew up around the richness of Fijian and Pacific culture and art. From the acclaimed masi of her island Moce, to the serekali of her Grandmother to countless meke, tau’olunga and other Pacific dance practices, it has been a way to live in and express her heritage.

In between the practices Salote went to Victoria University of Wellington and studied Political Science and Pacific Studies. She also wrote for Salient Magazine about Pacific art, politics and decolonisation.
