Sophie grew up in Taranaki before she began pre-professional ballet training at the Alberta Ballet School in Canada, later returning to Aotearoa to graduate high school at the Chilton St James School in Lower Hutt.  She is currently in her second year as a Contemporary Dance Student with the New Zealand School of Dance.  Since returning home after the pandemic, she has started her endeavour to connect to her Māori whakapapa with Te Whānau ā Apanui, as well as learning and studying Te reo Māori.
