Taryn Utiger has been a journalist for close to ten years now, having worked for various publications including Stuff and Taranaki Daily News as well as for independent media providers. Although she has covered local body elections, high profile court cases (and the occasional cat stuck down a drain), the arts have always been her favourite thing to write about.

She has been involved in theatre since she was a teenager, both on stage and behind the scenes, and has a few theatre papers under her belt. She’s worked in marketing for arts festivals and WOMAD and is currently studying towards her next qualification. This time she’s doing a degree in project management, with the hope of using these skills in the arts and entertainment world.
