Waitahi Aniwaniwa McGee (They/Them) is an interdisciplinary artist working in live performance. 

After moving to Wellington in 2019 to study acting at Toi Whakaari/NZ Drama School, they’ve spent the last three years freelancing in roles spanning from Assistant Director to Stage Manager, Actor, Puppeteer, Producer, and Sound Designer working with established organisations such as Tāwhiri Festivals and Experiences, Wellington Opera, Verb Wellington, Kia Mau Festival, Barbarian Productions and more.

In 2020, Waitahi co-directed award winning Poetry Film “Noho Mai”. In 2021 they were awarded “Most Promising Emerging Artist” in the Wellington Fringe where they debuted their original work “Wai Ata Mai” as part of the Pūtahi Festival. In 2022 they were 1 of 2 successful recipients of the CNZ Toi Tipu Toi Rea Fund which allowed them to carry out a final development of “Wai Ata Mai”.
