JUBLIATION CHOIR

Jubilation are a 24-voice à cappella (i.e. unaccompanied) choir who specialise in good-time gospel with a rock & roll attitude.   Featuring soloists including Rick Bryant, Jean McAllister, Fiona Samuel, Jennifer Ward-Lealand & Amanda Billing – this is an opportunity to hear some of New Zealand’s best professional vocalists let loose on some of the most soulful music in the world.

Formed over five years ago out of a desire by a group of serious musicians to sing the fabulous music that is traditional African-American gospel, Jubilation also showcase songs by contemporary songwriters that draw on that tradition (e.g. Ben Harper, Cissy Houston, Curtis Mayfield, Van Morrison and even Tom Waits!).  They also have an in-house writing and arranging team and will be featuring a new song written by NZ’s own Don McGlashen for the movie "No2" (Jubilation provide the choir backing for the song on the movie soundtrack).

If you have never heard gospel music with a big choir live, then this is an opportunity you should not miss.  If you like your music upbeat, soulful and funky you are guaranteed a good time.
