Bella. I am in the Circa building at the moment (but wasn’t in Monarchy) and I just would like to thank you on behalf of the cast and crew for the card and poster that you hand created in support of the show. It appears one of the “adults” (and I say that hesitantly) on this site thought your post was from Gareth Farr (the creator of the music for Monarchy). The cast were blown away by your support of them and the card and poster have been kept as special treasures. Thanks again and keep going to theatre. There’s lots of really cool stuff out there and people always love that sort of heartfelt support.

Hi Bella. Can I ask whether you saw Troy the Musical from the same team last year? I loved Troy, but found Monarchy a pale sequel. I think the strength of Troy was the story being told, whereas Monarchy felt more like a themed musical revue with little time available to spend on the actual stories of the Monarchs. I also thought Troy was stronger musically – “pigs, men are pigs; women say they’re okay but they are lying” still gets sung in my head from time to time. I guess it’s a bit unfair to judge the team against their previous production, but surely inevitable. I know lots of people loved Monarchy, so I accept that I’m possibly not in the majority in disliking it – still, we can’t all like the same things!
