Q THEATRE UPDATE

You may have read an article in Friday’s New Zealand Herald about a proposal concerning the Mid City site in central Auckland. The article suggests that Q Theatre may be interested in pursuing this site, alongside Auckland City Council and Auckland Theatre Company, as an alternative to the 305 Queen St site. 

We want to be clear with all our supporters that, after initial investigation, Q has resolved not to be part of a bid for the purchase of the Mid City site.  We will, however, provide support and assistance to both council and ATC with their pursuit of the site, in the interests of goodwill and to share with them our experience and knowledge in this area. 

Q Theatre, and its funding application to the Lottery Significant Projects Fund, continues firmly on foot.

In making its decision, the Q Board reconfirmed that the purpose of its work is to bring to life the vision and need for an independent home for the performing arts at 305 Queen Street as part of establishing a cultural precinct for the City.
