AUDITION NOTICE

Vienna Verona

A double shot of Shakespeare served by

Three Spoon Theatre

BATS Theatre

4-15th August 2009

In August 2009, Three Spoon Theatre will hit the stage with a double whammy as part of the ‘Compleate Workes’ Festival. Their ambitious project is a two-bill season of Shakespearean theatre featuring simultaneously standalone and complimentary productions of Measure for Measure and Romeo and Juliet directed by Alex Lodge and Ralph McCubbin Howell, and produced by Adrianne Roberts.

Three Spoon’s double presentation of the familiar tale of two star-crossed lovers, with the lesser-known comedy of the self-righteous, will be coalesced via a shared editing approach that favours fast-paced action over flowery soliloquising, and emphasises the common theme of social authority. While revelling in the plays’ legacy, both productions will adopt contemporary performative methodologies to push the boundary between tragedy and deadpan comedy and bring a fresh energy to timeless ideas of love, sex, and authority.

We are seeking talented, enthusiastic and dedicated actors, lads and lasses of all ages (though particularly older actors) to get this show on the road. Auditions will be held weekend 7th-9th March, so whether you fancy yourself as a Romeo or Mariana, email threespoontheatre@gmail.com and we’ll hit you back with a bucket-load of audition info. Feel free to pass this on to anyone who may be interested.
