WORKING WITH ACTORS

A workshop for theatre directors
August 8 & 9, 2009

Giving your best to get the best work from your actors.

Participants will discover how to create the best working practice for rehearsals and find tasks that inspire actors and illuminate the text.  

Participants will undertake practical exercises with professional actors. The workshop is suitable for directors of varied experience.    

Workshop leader: Murray Lynch

Murray has worked at nearly every professional theatre in New Zealand since 1973 and has over 120 directing credits. Positions he has held include Artistic Director Centrepoint Theatre; Associate Director Theatre Corporate; Artistic Director Maidment Arts Centre; Associate Director Downstage Theatre; Head of Acting and Directing Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School and Director of Downstage Theatre 2000-2005. He is a commissioned writer and holds a Master of Arts from Victoria University. He was a founder of the Masters in Directing programme jointly taught by Toi Whakaari and Victoria University.
