Comments from last year’s tour:

Ingenious distillation, dynamically performed
Any NCEA student studying Shakespeare’s King Lear who has the good fortune to see Kore Theatre’s Lear & His Daughters will gain a very clear insight into the core story.   Lear & His Daughters sets a very high standard for companies seeking to meet the needs of NCEA students. – Reviewed by John Smythe, Theatreview 15.7.08

The production is the perfect length and displayed such variety in performance styles it kept everyone thinking, entertained and stimulated.   The hardened anti-Shakespeare students claimed to have loved the production.  Lear & His Daughters was intelligently conceived and executed, performed strongly and with variety and nuance, using signs and symbols in such a way as to stimulate much debate in classes.  Ralph was an impressive presence as Lear, and Liz’s multi-rolling won her kudos across the board, not to mention her physical theatre and musician skills. – Nick Brown, HOD Drama & Theatre Arts, Kerikeri High School, 2008.

Even though they have not studied it yet, they found it easy to follow. We look forward to another performance next year.  – Amanda Devane, Aquinas College, Tauranga

The energy and focus of the actors held the girls. Let us know when you are through again! Thank-you. – Josephine Carpenter Woodford House, Havelock Nth

Thank you for an outstanding performance at Mountainview High School. This is among the handful of very best performances that we have had in our school over the last 20 years. This was just a huge treat . Every school should have the Kore Theatre Company perform for them. Thank you SO much for raising the heart of my drama students. – Elizabeth Grubb, HOD Drama, Timaru 27.7.2008

The performance was moving, physical and very fast-paced, taking the audience through a wide range of emotions and brilliantly including humour and pathos. – Kirsty Hazledine, Cultural Director, Wellington College

"I didn’t want to go even if it was free because Shakespeare pretty much sux and teachers keep treating it like it is ‘the best’ but I just didn’t get it. After their show though I changed my mind".  – Student, Thames High School.
