Nomination for “The ORYZA FOUNDATION FOR ASIAN PERFORMING ARTS Award for Best Accent of the Year”

“Best portrayal of a Malaysian-Indian Taxi Driver by a Fijian-Indian-Kiwi actor who is, alas, less ‘Indian’ than his Malaysian-Chinese director, who (ironically) had to teach him how to be and sound Indian through some serious show and tell.”

AND

“Best portrayal of a Malaysian-Chinese ‘Ah Beng’ accent, especially saying the word ‘Ba-na-na’.”

🙂

(Am I allowed to nominate something from my own production for an award we are sponsoring? Oh wait. Who cares! Pfft. Hehe.)

Another Nomination for “The ORYZA FOUNDATION FOR ASIAN PERFORMING ARTS Award for Best Accent of the Year”

Nomination for “The SHORT + SWEET AUCKLAND Award for Smallest Part of the Year…”

ALVIN MAHARAJ (again!?) in ‘Citizen 3’ by Davina Goh, part of ‘Asian Tales™: Native Alienz’, for…

“Best portrayal of a Malaysian-Indian Mamak (Hawker) Stall waiter who comes on stage to serve a drink, accidentally eavesdropping on a couple making a somewhat phallic comment about the size of an Indian man’s package, turns around flipping a very suggestive elephant-trunk inspired variation of the proverbial birdie to the unknowing couple, all in under 30-seconds. Laughter ensues.”

As the saying goes… It ain’t the size of your role. It’s how you use it. 😛
