JOB VACANCY: BATS PROGRAMME MANAGER 

[Note: Steph Walker has been appointed the new General Manager of the Christchurch Arts Festival – ED]

The Programme Manager is responsible for the artistic vision of BATS Theatre and is co-General Manager.

This position is full-on, full time plus, and requires a passion for theatre, coupled with a sound knowledge of theatre production, arts management, script assessment and the contemporary New Zealand theatre scene.

Full time plus flexible hours required.

The Programme Manager is responsible for the artistic vision of BATS Theatre and is the co-General Manager. This position is extremely full-on and requires a passion for the performing arts coupled with a sound knowledge of theatre production, arts administration, script assessment and the contemporary New Zealand theatre scene. Full time hours plus, and flexible hours are required.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a total belief in BATS vision and the ability to make it happen. They will use their knowledge and intuition to drive the BATS artistic vision, inspiring audiences and practitioners alike. They will have energy, vitality and motivation and be able to take on the overall responsibility of the BATS programme.

The BATS Programme Manager ensures BATS’ position as a key player in the arts community of Wellington and Aotearoa. The Programme Manager is the co General Manager of BATS Theatre, alongside the Business Manager.  

DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

• An exceptional ability to deal with diverse groups of people
• Thorough working knowledge of theatre production and practice
• Skilled advocate for the arts
• Strategic management skills
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Arts Marketing knowledge
• Budgeting and financial knowledge
• Computer skills – good working knowledge of Microsoft Office & Excel
• Staff Management skills an advantage
• Dramaturgical skills an advantage
 
The ideal start date is late July 2010.
