TRINITY GUILDHALL
 
INTERNATIONAL PLAYWRITING COMPETITION
 
Plays for children and young people can excite and inspire both the audience and the writer. Through the International Playwriting Competition, Trinity Guildhall aims to encourage new writing in this field, recognising the very best with a prize package that not only includes £1,000, but also sees the winning plays published and distributed worldwide, and performed on the London stage.
 
THE PLAYS

Writers are asked to submit a one-act play for either:
  • Audiences of 11 years old and under
  • Audiences of 12 to 16 years old.
 The competition is open to writers of any age, of any level of experience and from any country. All plays must be written in English. The play must be original, unproduced and unperformed.
 
THE PRIZES
In each category:
  • Cash prize of £1,000 for the writer
  • Winning play to be published by Trinity College London in a collection of outstanding plays from the competition
  • Winning play to be performed at a gala event in a London West End theatre on 31 October 2010
  • Travel and accommodation costs for the writer plus guest to attend the gala performance.
In addition, up to four ‘Highly Commended’ awards:
  • Cash prize of £500.
Awards will also be made for The Most Promising Playwright under the age of 12 and The Most Promising Playwright under the age of 16.
