DOWNSTAGE IS NOW OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR PROGRAMMING IN 2012.
Downstage showcases the very best contemporary performing arts New Zealand has to offer…
…distinctive, eclectic, surprising, breathtaking, challenging, proudly New Zealand, entrepreneurial.
We partner with the independent performing arts companies through our Presenting Partner Program.  This programming model is unique to Downstage and one that reflects international practice (The Malthouse, Melbourne; On The Boards, Seattle).  Unlike a festival, we do not ‘buy in’ work, but we cover the cost of presenting and promoting the show while at Downstage.
Simply put, you are responsible for the development of the project and resourcing the rehearsal period. Downstage is responsible for marketing and presenting your production in Wellington.  We pay an upfront fee and wages for all performance personnel during the season.  We cover all marketing costs, and all production costs when you are in our venue.
We create two distinct seasons of works annually:
• Season One – Feb-Jun
• Season Two – Jul-Dec
