18th Workuba 2012, Havana, Cuba (International Modern & Afro-Latin Dance Workshop)

Open Dance and Theatre Festival – February 18 – 26- 2012

Workuba brings together the various dances of the Americas that have their roots in traditional African rhythms and dance, and blends these influences with Modern Dance, which the Program considers to be the key elements of the “complete dancer”. Workuba makes the difference! We offer you a unique opportunity to experience modern dance with a latin flavor in a workshop that has as its historical setting Havana City.

Location: America Theatre, 253 Galiano Ave. Centro Habana, Havana, Cuba.


Classes to be offered in the Workuba Latin Dance Workshop:

DANCE: Afro-Cuban Folklore / Rueda & Cuban Salsa / Danzón / Modern Dance / Cuban Rumba/ Afro-Brazilian / Tango and Milonga / Ballet.

PERFORMING ARTS WORKSHOP: Theatre, Pantomime, stage direction, voice and diction, theater for children.

Includes Artistic Presentations: Tuesday to Saturday

CLASSES SCHEDULES: (Every Day) 10:00am to 12m / 1:30pm to 5:00pm.

CHOREOGRAPHIC WORKSHOP: Wednesday February 22 at 5:30pm

FINAL PERFORMANCE:  February Sunday 26 – 5:00pm, America Theatre.

* Participants dancers may bring a Choreography (Duration: between 3 and 5), as well as music on CD and costume. These will be assessed for presentation, with essays timetables . Techniques and Styles: Ballet, modern dance, contemporary dance, hip-hop, Funky Dance, Street Dance. Everyone should have a professional level.

FEES: 300. U$D. The participation fee includes Workshops, Performances and Certificate.

REGISTRATION: Saturday February 18 from 8:30a.m. to 10:00a.m – America Theatre.
