A young generation of theatre makers opens the 2013 theatrical calendar of Downstage theatre with PERFECTLY WASTED.

Long Cloud Youth Theatre is calling for auditionees for its summer school intake. The company is looking for ambitious, talented and motivated 16-25 year olds who want to embark on a five week rollercoaster ride of making theatre together. The participants will get intensive training in voice, movement, acting, and devising as well as working towards a professional stage production at Downstage Theatre, one of New Zealand’s leading theatres. Full time rehearsals and training start from 10th January 2013. 

The 10 show season runs from 1st-16th February 2013. The training fee for the program is $225. 

The summer school accepts a maximum of 30 students. To sign up for an audition, please send name, contact details, age and a short description of theatre/drama background to .

This application must be received by Thursday 6th December 2012.
The audition will be held on Sunday 16th Dec 2012 at Whitireia Performance Centre (25-27 Vivian St). 

This five-week summer school gives young artists the chance to create theatre alongside the cream of New Zealand’s theatre talent. Long Cloud Youth Theatre, Downstage theatre and A Slightly Isolated Dog collaborate to create a platform for young theatre practitioners to stage a professional theatre production. The project is lead by award winning director Leo Gene Peters, this theatre boot camp will result in 10 show performance season of
1st – 16th February 2013
at Downstage.

PERFECTLY WASTED directed by Leo Gene Peters (Strange Resting Places, Awhi Tapu, Death and the Dreamlife of Elephants, Wild Cabbage) explores the all the beautiful energy of youth and the painful, ugly situations we can get into when we let loose and go searching for the perfect night out in Wellington. It is a chaotic party, a celebration, a search for profound connection, tequila and lynx.
