LEGACY PROJECT

Submissions Open for LEGACY PROJECT – Our Stories, Our Legacy.

The LEGACY PROJECTis a new theatre development programme that will provide an opportunity for writers within the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community to create short theatrical works, which express our unique Kiwi voices.

During a script development weekend in November, these projects will be workshopped before the final six are selected for a week-long performance showcase during Auckland Pride Festival 2014.

Writer and director submissions are now open until the 31st October.  For detailed submission criteria please visit our website www.legacyproject.co.nz

Participation in the festival is open to all. Those who can offer technical or backstage support are also encouraged to register their interest by emailing submit@legacyproject.co.nz

About LEGACY PROJECT creator

Bruce Brown is the Artistic Director for LEGACY PROJECT. A graduate from UNITEC’s Performing Arts programme, he has been involved as both a writer and director for Short+Sweet Auckland, and the Ellerslie Theatrical Society for the last 5 years. He received the Best Independent Theatre Company Award for his Short+Sweet 2013 play ‘Staged Madness’ as well as numerous positive reviews.

“I’ve always felt there has been a real lack of quality gay stories being told from a Kiwi perspective in Auckland theatre. I feel the short theatre format is the best place to experiment, challenge and grow these stories.”

Inspired by the great events as part of this year’s Auckland Pride Festival, he wanted to take this experience and passion for theatre to create a programme that would nurture the development of LGBT storytellers within theatre.
