MASK IMPROV WORKSHOP 
with Pedro Ilgenfritz (Unitec lecturer and Theatre Director)

This Mask and Improvisation workshop will cover the basic elements of acting training: movement analysis, neutral body, levels of presence, physical states, neutral mask, larval mask, expressive masks (full and half-masks) over a period of 8 days. I have been studying physical theatre, clowning and popular forms of theatre for over 20 years In Brazil and New Zealand.

This workshop is an amalgamation of my investigation of acting training within Unitec Performing and Screen Arts Programme and my own theatre company LAB Theatre. This course offers a comprehensive overview of mask as a acting training tool and the ideas of Konstantin Stanislavsky, Edward Gordon Craig, Jacques Copeau, Vsevolod Meyerhold, Jacques Lecoq, Dario Fo, AntoninArtaud, Jerzy Grotowski, Bertolt Brecht, Commedia dell’Arte, Clowns and street theatre.
