National Theatre for Children still to perform Seasons in the Hannah Playhouse this October despite Downstage closure announcement

Following the announcement that the Downstage Theatre Trust is winding up, Capital E National Theatre for Children announced today that family favourite Seasons will still be presented in the Hannah Playhouse, the home to Downstage Theatre for the last 50 years.

Capital E’s Creative Producer Stephen Blackburn said, Everyone here at Capital E will miss Downstage very much. It was a great team of people who worked over the past few seasons alongside the National Theatre for Children to bring the best professional theatre to Wellington’s young audiences.”

“We will continue our school holiday and education season in October by presenting Seasons in the Hannah Playhouse.”

This news follows Capital E’s own announcement about moving into a new space on Queens Wharf due to open in January 2014.

“With a much smaller space than before the National Theatre for Children will continue presenting in other venues around Wellington,”explains Mr Blackburn. “We are striving to ensure we find a space that is suitable for our audience, but are pleased we can continue in the Downstage building for our up-coming production before touring the South Island in the summer.”

The National Theatre for Children began presenting productions in Downstage Theatre in 2010.

Seasons on at The Hannah Playhouse (a.k.a. Downstage Theatre) from Saturday 5-12 October 2013; call 04 913 3740 or visit Capitale.org.nz to book tickets.
