METEOR THEATRE TO BE OPERATED BY COMMUNITY THEATRE TRUST 

Hamilton City Council today unanimously approved, in principle, One Victoria Trust taking over the operation of The Meteor Theatre.

The discussion was based on a proposal that was received from the Trust earlier this month.

The proposal recommended that the Trust take over the operation of The Meteor for use as a community based performing arts hub for an initial period of three years.

A grant of $75,000 to the Trust for each of the next three years was also approved.

Further discussion around the specific terms of the contract will take place between Council Chief Executive Barry Harris and the Trust Board over the next few weeks with an agreement scheduled to be met by 8 October.
