Job description:
New Zealand Dance Festival Trust presents Tempo Dance Festival, the popular annual festival which has celebrated and promoted dance, dancers and choreographers since 2002. Tempo 2015 is based at Q Theatre in Auckland City in October 2015.
 
NZDFT is seekinga General Manager to oversee its marketing, financial and administrative functions. The successful candidate will work closely with the Artistic Director, the producer, the Tempo Dance Festival team and the Board of Trustees in a dynamic and rewarding artistic environment.
 
You will have responsibility for the marketing, financial and some administration functions which include:
·         Meeting key performance targets set by funders
·         Implementing and refining the marketing and publicity strategy
·         Managing the financial budgets
·         Contracting and supervising the festival team, in close consultation with the Artistic Director
·         Supervising and/or preparing funding applications
·         Negotiating contracts with suppliers
·         Preparing monthly financial reports and annual returns for the Trust Board and other stakeholders
·         Maintenance of administration and finance systems
·         Timely preparation of tax and GST returns and supervising the annual audit
·         Analysing the financial aspects of ticketing
·         Liaising with the Trust Board and attending Board meetings as required.
 
Key skills sought
The successful candidate will be an experienced and adaptable Manager with marketing expertise and management accounting experience, able to manage a team of festival contractors and work closely with the Artistic Director. Experience in marketing and budget management are essential. Experience in the Xero accounting system or similar and the arts industry are desirable. The successful candidate will have proven negotiation skills and be capable of meeting financial targets. The successful candidate will also have excellent relationship skills including the ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive and respectful relationships with diverse stakeholders, including funders, festival contractors, artists, colleagues and board members.
