FORTUNE THEATRE COMPANY AUDITIONS JAN 2017
Fortune Theatre is thrilled to announce the return of an acting company to the theatre next July.
Artistic Director Jonathon Hendry said at the Fortune’s 2017 Season Launch that he is “delighted to be bringing a company of actors back to the theatre”.
Following My Dad’s Boy (Feb-March) and Last Legs (April-May), the Fortune Company will present two works starting with an exciting new production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night opening on July 1st and directed by Ben Henson. The Company will be joined by students from the University of Otago’s Theatre Studies Programme to bring one of the Bard’s most adored comedies to life.
In August they will be shifting gear to stage Stephen Sondheim’s celebrated musical mashup Into The Woods directed by Hendry with musical direction by Mark Dorrell. This will be the first musical to take to the Fortune stage since 2011’s Avenue Q. “This company season provides an exciting opportunity for a group of actors to show off their versatility and throw themselves into an acting environment that is hard to find in New Zealand. Joining us for three months they will perform in two truly remarkable works. We’re looking forward to an amazing time.” said Mr Hendry.
