The aim of the poster competition is to reward the best posters which, in the opinion of the judge, are most likely to attract people to go to whatever show is being advertised.

Theatre New Zealand (who have been running their own poster competitions for many years) have organised the event.

There are two categories: from a professional company; and from a community production, both for any NZ show between July 2017 and June 2018.

Five finalists in each category have been selected (displayed below) by judge Peter Biggs former Chair of CNZ and currently head of one this country’s leading advertising agencies. He will announce the two winners at the Official Launch at Parliament Buildings on September 3rd.

Each finalist receives $100, and the winners $1000.

The NZ Theatre Month Poster Competition is sponsored by The Roger Hall Theatre Trust (a non-application fund administered by Arts Foundation of New Zealand)

There were 52 entries in the Professional Production category, and 28 in the Community Production category.
