Te Auaha is Whitireia and WelTec’s new School of Creativity located in the Centre of Wellington. The school teaches a wide range of creative courses, including film production, digital media, visual arts, writing, dance, performance, music and much much more. Te Auaha is seeking a highly experienced Production Coordinator to work with our tutors, venue staff, programme managers and students to make in house productions (in both our own venues and outside venues) efficient, safe and professional.

This role reports to the Venue Manager. The aim is to achieve consistently high quality experience for all involved in shows – tutors, students, technical staff, venue staff, audiences and to ensure that professional and safe procedures are followed.

A successful candidate will have as many of these qualities as possible:

  • Strong understanding and experience in theatre or similar production processes – e.g., stage management, production management, producer etc.
  • Comes with the authority and personality to influence and persuade others to achieve goals
  • A basic working knowledge of theatre lighting and sound equipment
  • A reasonable understanding of sales and marketing as it pertains to theatre and events
  • Able and willing to work outside of normal hours including weekends. Pack ins, pack outs etc.
  • A good understanding of current Health & Safety safe practice in a variety of venues and creative circumstances
  • Highly organised with great time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and first-class customer and communication service skills, including a willingness to adjust your process to accommodate different approaches
  • Skill in understanding business requirements to ensure the smooth running of a production

An understanding of the Tertiary education environment is helpful though not essential
