“After Nietzsche famously announced, “God is dead,” he continued: we have lost the spectator. The emergence of the internet means the return of the universal spectator.” (Groys, 2013)
An abbreviation of ‘anonymous’, and an old English word meaning ‘soon, presently’ Anon is a weeklong inhabitation of the Sumner Art Window by Choreographer Joshua Rutter. During the week he will be setting up situations in the gallery based around the increasing presence of Computer Vision (CV) in our day-to-day activities, and how it might affect our behaviours and experiences. As one aspect of the evermorevisible surveillance we are subject to from commercial and governmental interests, CV is a timely object for contemplation.
Rutter will be offering training facilities for tactical face recognition avoidance set amidst more freeform operations with camouflage, stealth, and drones.
