The Performance Arcade 2016

Production Details

The Performance Arcade brings together visual arts and performance in a specially curated ‘exhibition-event’ of live art practices on Wellington Waterfront. An arrangement of shipping containers and scaffold structures provides a temporary architecture for this unique project, housing a bar space, a programme of live music and events, and new performance installations by NZ and International artists. Open 13 hours a day, this event is free to the Wellington public.

 CLOSER

Closer lays bare the power of physicality and presence through a series of one-on-one dance performances in public spaces, for one dancer and one audience at a time. Together we play with how the meeting between performer and audience generates the possibility for something new.

The Body Cartography Project with Footnote NZ Dance (USA/NZ)

The mission of BodyCartography Project is to engage with the vital materiality of the body. They create dance in urban, domestic, wild, and social landscapes. Their work is rooted in contemporary dance, somatic technique, education, socially engaged practice, and public art. They are deeply invested in the power of live performance to facilitate a re-enchantment of embodiment, relationship, and presence. Over seventeen years they have created projects across the USA, Canada, NZ, Japan, Europe, Russia and South America that range from intimate interventions in public space, to large community site pieces, and works for the stage. Honors include a Foundation for Contemporary Art grant in 2015, Twin Cities City Pages Dance Company of the Year 2013, City Pages Artists of the Year 2008, Sage Award for Outstanding Performance 2008.
