FRED DAGG FINALISTS DUBBED ONE OF THE BEST AT AUCKLAND FRINGE

The Outwits are returning to Auckland for the first Fringe with their unique comedy show, Dub. Dub. Dub. A big hit at last year’s New Zealand comedy festival, these three actors like to do all the talking. You can’t shut them up.

They voice over old movies, local TV footage, and even each other in a show that has been described as, ‘the show you will keep talking about, just make sure it’s you that is actually talking.’

We prefer our TV with the sound down,’ says Outwits co-founder Rikki Cosgrove, ‘that way; we get the show we want to see. If John Campbell could see what we do to him, he’d likely turn over in his grave… if he were dead. He’s not, is he?’

The Outwits have been working together for the last 15 years and they know each other pretty well: ‘We started at The Court Theatre in Christchurch and have done so many shows together now, we feel like the kids in a good old fashioned dysfunctional family. Locked in the car, outside the casino with the windows up.’

Last year they were invited back to Auckland for the finals of the Fred Dagg awards at Sky City. ‘It was a rush playing to a full house of 700 and hearing not only lots of laughter but also the judges comment on the uniqueness of the show.’

This is a show where the audience can sit back and relax without any fear of having to participate. ‘We even do the audience members voices if we want to talk with them. That way, we get the answers we want to hear, and we don’t run the risk of them being funnier than us.’
