Production Details
Total intricacy… Intricacy of moral dogmas… Confusion of assessment criteria… Revaluation of the values … In this kind of world there is no wonder if a genius is called a fool; No wonder if a Fool’s young servant lives in hope to learn a saint’s profession from his master.
The Music and Drama Theatre presents the show called “Fool’s life”. It’s one of the last masterpieces of Japanese play writer Ryunosuke Akatugawa. The work inspired director David Doiashvili who combined several short stories into an innovative drama under the same title.
Real world becomes more abstract than invented one for a secluded writer. The unreal characters he creates for his stories are more visible and tangible than his servant real existence.
The latter follows him through his difficult footsteps, along the path full of complicated ideas and visions, transformation of ideas, searching of a style, formation and development of his characters. Eventually the servant gives up… He starts seeing the same characters and visions as his master, the creator and author of those personages and spectacles does… And acknowledges him to be saint.
In the universe where everything is confused and mingled, where a common mortal can fly, self-assassination can be considered rebirth.
