20/03/2014 - 22/03/2014

Dunedin Fringe 2014

Production Details

New Zealand’s three most wanted up-and-coming comedians, James Roque, Jamaine Ross and Pax Assadi have been individually cracking up audiences, and racking up awards and nominations ever since they started stand-up. So it only made sense to combine their fresh, unique, multi-cultural and (most importantly) hilarious voices in a showcase especially for the 2014 Dunedin Fringe Festival.

Christchurch born Jamaine Ross couldn’t have had a better start to his career when he took out the 2012 Raw Comedy Quest National Final. At the 2013 New Zealand International Comedy Festival, he headlined ‘The Medium Rare Comedy Showcase,’ earning a 5 star review; he then opened for Tenacious D on their 2013 New Zealand tour; and most recently, he earned a nomination for the 2014 Billy T Award.

In only a short three years performing stand-up, Middle-Eastern Kiwi, Pax Assadi has come a long way. In 2011 he was a National Finalist in the Raw Comedy Quest; and at the 2013 New Zealand International Comedy Festival, he was nominated for the Billy T Award for his first solo show ‘Pax’s Magic Carpet Ride’

James Roque is New Zealand’s illegitimate Filipino comedy son. He was a National Finalist in the 2011 Raw Comedy Quest and later in the year was a standout performer on TV3’s ‘AotearoHA: Next Big Things.’ In 2013, he was nominated for the New Zealand International Comedy Festival’s Best Newcomer Award for his first solo show ‘James Roque is Chicken.’
