Remember that time you awoke and were lost. Remember how you felt in those moments before the shapes around you started to make sense. Isolation is set in that space, the gap between sleep and lucidity. A tourist struggles to find herself, a hermit struggles to keep her and a young man struggles to connect. Isolation takes us deep into the New Zealand bush and challenges you to put the pieces together.

Blackbird Theatre is a Christchurch-based group who create original, New Zealand theatre and experimental works. Blackbird is a gathering of people who are dedicated to creating theatre for the love of it. The company motto is to benefit and delight all beings, providing opportunities for growth through the experience of theatre. Isolation is the first of three original scripts planned for production this year.

Sorriness, my dear, implies that something went wrong. Death is never wrong, it comes exactly when it means to. 

Award-winning writer, Lisa Norriss (Glockenspiel Dockyards, The Gardener’s Guide to Samsara), is known for her quirky and philosophical writing. Mike Adams (winner 48hrs Best Actor 2009), Angela Johnson and Greg Hubbard bring Norriss’ script to life with utter conviction and empathy. Isolation promises to be a psychological treat that will keep audiences guessing until the very last moment.
