Journeys

TAPAC Theatre, Western Springs, Auckland

25/02/2011 - 25/02/2011

Auckland Fringe 2011

Production Details

This is the second offering from the group that gave us The World in Focus, performed as part of the Mau Festival in 2009.

The performers explore their own experiences of journeys in all their forms real, imagined, internal and life journey. A common thread begins to emerge that binds members of the group but ultimately everyone travelling on their own journey. With original music composed by the group and Flying Dance this promises to be another intriguing and moving piece of theatre.

Telling stories offers the possibility of an immediate relationship between disabled people and their audience, the paradox emerges for the audience with the eloquence and grace with which their voice is offered. Whether the audience then takes notice, reflects and acts differently toward disabled people is an emerging area of promise.

The public performance works from Interacting contradict and challenge the norms of the able community that stigmatise disabled people and regard them as not like ‘us’.
