NZ Fringe Festival 2015 [reviewing supported by WCC]

Production Details

“You just gotta help me mate!”

A desperate voice crashes into Radio New Zealand’s regular programming on 20th February. The caller has found something in the street. And so it begins…

Strange cubes on the streets. Strange people on the air waves. There are other levels of existence and experience beyond our immediate understanding. There are other people, and other lives that experience the world in other ways.

A remarkable multi-layered, on-going performance event for the Wellington Fringe Festival 2015. Stranger Things is a co-production between Radio New Zealand and the award-winning theatre company My Accomplice.

“We are incredibly excited about this opportunity to work with Radio New Zealand,” says co-writer Hannah Banks. “By partnering with the experience and talent at RNZ, we’ll be able to get these stories out in a form that extends the reach of our work and the reach of The Fringe way beyond Wellington. Radio New Zealand has a huge audience compared to theatre.”

Director, Adam Macaulay (of RNZ Drama) says of the collaboration, “We’ve always seen ourselves as a means to showcase writing and acting talent and are really excited to be partnering with such an influential and innovative company as My Accomplice. This process will be great for both of us and hopefully, it’ll open the door for others to make dynamic creative connections with RNZ.”

There’s no shortage of creativity and experience in the Other Lives partnership. Anything could happen, so watch this space – or should we say, keep your ears open?
