Wipe Out!

Coming this summer to a beach near you!
The most eye-filling sight under the sun! The Wet Hot Beauties present a free live beach performance.
A surfin’ safari, swinging sixties splash mob ~ WIPE OUT!

The Wet Hot Beauties – winners of 2011 & 2013 Auckland Fringe Festival’s People’s Choice Award are bringing something a little different to their latest Auckland Fringe offering. This summer, New Zealand’s favourite mermaids are ditching the pool and hitting the beach from 14 February – 14 March! Following on from last year’s hit beach series ‘Oh We Do Like To Be Beside the Seaside’, the Wet Hot Beauties take to the waves again in a swinging sixties tribute to Californian beach culture. WIPE OUT! features up to 100 performers, in a fun and funky Malibu inspired ‘splashmob’.

Auckland’s favourite beaches come alive as the Wet Hot Beauties strut their sassy, surfin’ safari stuff to entertain and delight. All the Wet Hot Beauties style and humour you know and love.

A feel-good festival highlight, the Wet Hot Beauties are again proudly part of Auckland Fringe 2015, and for the first time will perform and offer join-in workshops at Splore Festival 2015.

Creating fantastical 1930s & 40s inspired Water Ballets with a cheeky modern twist.  Water nymphs as you’ve never seen them. Watch and be amazed as salty seductresses glide in synchronicity, bringing red-lipped kisses of life to the bygone art of the Water Ballet. Spectacular, hilarious and with rocking great moves, this most stylish troupe of mirthful mermaids rocks the beaches.

About the Wet Hot Beauties

Luscious leggy ladies in white cloche swimming caps and blood-red smiles, the WHBs are inspired by the charming and spectacular aquacades of early cinema’s delightful 1930s and 1940s era, and the kaleidoscopic designs of Hollywood movie director and water musical choreographer, Busby Berkeley.

The Wet Hot Beauties community gathers afresh each Auckland summer to learn a new skill and to create a quirky new art form – the contemporary water ballet. It’s physical, it’s challenging. It’s theatrical, it’s unique.  It’s glamorous and classy – but most of all – it’s fun and it’s cool.
